Hello, and welcome to my blog: Toni Crowe, the writer.
I am a writer attempting to publish my first book. The book is written but not published. I figured that I would self-publish taking much the pain, doubt, and delay out of the process. Surprise! This has been a long hard process. I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about all the tasks I still need to complete to get this book out for readers. The book will launch on Amazon in August, but will it Launch on the exact day that I would like. Unknown. I’m working as fast as I can.
How do you publish a book? The ins and outs uploading a book to Kindle, setting up landing pages and author websites are new to me. It turns out that you can’t just write the darn book and walk away. Nope Nope. Nope. You must market the book. Next post, I’ll start to detail how I have gotten this far.
I’m starting this blog due to the frustration that I feel not having known about the plethora of work surrounding writing, editing and publishing a book. Someone should have told me about this before I jumped off into it. Writing my book “NEVER a $7 Whore” was already hard. I was returning to a painful period in my life when I was not making the best decisions. My book is about me running away with a pimp when I was 18. Serendipity interceded, and I managed to get away. How I did that is a peek inside a world people don’t often see. I wrote the book because I ended up being a respectable married woman with a wonderful family life and excellent career. My husband knows about my past. In fact, my husband is the one who encouraged me to write the book I am a living example that there are no inescapable traps, there is always hope. I wish I had my book to read before I ran off with a pimp.
I was not prepared for the work it takes to get a book edited, uploaded and marketed. Next blog, I start to detail the process I’m using to get “NEVER a $7 Whore” published.
