If The Choices Are Get Old or Die, I’ll Take “Get Old” for a 1,000

Alex, I’ll Take “Get Old” for a 1,000.

Baby Boomers won’t accept that we are getting older. We love life. We love success. We love prosperity. We will not go quietly into that good night.

I won’t buy anything marketed as being for older people. I don’t see myself as old. Find another way to sell the disposable diapers I will eventually need. Baby Boomers are huge consumers.

Baby Boomers are the generation born between 1946 and 1964. We are the post-World War II babies. After the war, there was a worldwide pent up demand for sex from the soldiers who escaped death in the conflict. Lots of sex equals lots of babies.

Baby Boomers make up 28% of the population.

The first Baby Boomers turned 65 in 2011. From now until 2030, ten thousand Baby Boomers a day will hit retirement age.

We were the generation that produced the hippies. We worried about the trustworthiness of people over 30.

Baby Boomers still ski, jump out of planes, climb mountains and go on Alaskan treks and African safaris. I’m certain there are some Baby boomers knitting hats somewhere but nowhere near me.

It is inspiring that my generation does not accept getting old. We don’t accept that there is any limit to our ability to do whatever we want whenever we want.

FU Mother Nature.

We Baby Boomers are particularly sensitive to what you call us, refusing to acknowledge that the laws of nature apply to us.

There are several terms we don’t want to hear, so don’t say them. Just don’t. It pisses us off to hear the truth.

It is only when the alternative to aging is considered (die) that aging looks good.

I’m just happy that I am still fly after all this time.

I plan to stay that way.
